Bamboo Pedestrian Bridge

This project was completed for a bridge design class I took as a graduate student in 2013. As a class we choose to produce a tangible product that would showcase all that we had learned throughout that semester. What we learned could be summarized into three categories: social, scientific, and economic. Using these guiding parameters we designed a bridge - or a section of a bridge - to be made completely of salvaged wood and bamboo shoots harvested from the surrounding forests. The bridge is to satisfy a need on the University's campus. We then built a full size prototype of the bridge. The entire project was estimated, value-engineered, and managed by students in the course.
